The problem this pack solves
A Berlin school trip needs three things at once: curriculum-anchored content, on-the-ground logistics, and structured pre- and post-walk activities. Most teachers cobble these together from museum handouts, tour operator itineraries, and rushed lesson plans made the week before departure.
Live guided tours in Berlin start at around €210 for a two-hour walk. They're excellent, but they don't include the classroom lesson, the workbook, or the follow-up materials. They also don't scale — you get one guide's interpretation, not a curriculum-aligned pack you can adapt and reuse each year.
This pack is designed to sit at the centre of your Berlin trip: the document you open eight weeks before, the resource you print the day before, the guide you carry on the walk, and the debriefing structure for the morning after.
What makes it different
Written from the sites, not from a desk. Every waypoint has been walked, photographed, and verified in the last twelve months. When we ask students to find the brick line at the Brandenburg Gate, we know exactly where it is — and where to stand to see it best.
Built around Berlin's memorial philosophy. The walk deliberately treats absence as content. Empty lots (Topographie des Terrors), demolished churches (Reconciliation Chapel), ghost stations (Nordbahnhof), and cleared graves (Invalidenfriedhof) are stops in their own right — not skipped in favour of the "impressive" sights. This is what makes the walk work as history teaching, not as sightseeing.
Genuinely curriculum-aligned. Each stop maps to specific IB DP key concepts, IGCSE 0470 syllabus content, MYP assessment criteria, and Danish Fælles Mål kompetenceområder. Section 2 of the Teacher's Guide lays out the alignment concretely — not as a marketing checkbox but as documentation you can drop into your unit planning.
Designed for real classroom conditions. Discussion questions are graded easy/medium/hard for each stop. Every waypoint includes differentiation notes for ages 12–14, 15–18, and EAL learners. The Risk Assessment Template in Section 9 is built to Danish sikkerhedskrav standards and international school documentation requirements.

No. The Teacher's Guide is designed to be self-contained. Read it once and you're ready to lead the walk.
Can I adapt the materials for my school's specific curriculum framework?
Yes. The Pre-Walk Slides are delivered as an editable .pptx file. The Student Workbook and Reference Cards are PDFs; you're welcome to print, cut, and use them as-is or adapt printouts to your context.
Can multiple teachers at my school use one copy?
The €35 licence covers one teacher and their classes. For department-wide or school-wide use, contact us at [your school license email] — we offer school licenses for institutional use.
Is this suitable for a school that isn't planning to travel to Berlin?
The classroom materials (Section 3 Pre-Walk Lesson, Section 6 Post-Walk Debriefing, the Vocabulary sheet, and the slides) work as standalone Cold War teaching resources. The waypoint content is designed to be walked in person, but works as a virtual walking tour with Google Street View for schools that can't travel.
